Policy Title: Recognition of Sponsors

Date First Passed: June 25, 2009

Date(s) Amended:  October 21, 2010

This policy pertains to the manner in which SASCI will recognize and acknowledge the contributions of Sponsors, including the granting by SASCI of rights and privileges to Sponsors.  SASCI’s policies with respect to project Funders and core Supporters are addressed separately.

Sponsors

A “Sponsor”, as defined by SASCI, is an agency, department, organization, company, or individual or group of individuals that or who provide(s) to SASCI cash or other in-kind support for the purpose of enabling a specific event to be carried out.

It is recognized that sponsorship provides an opportunity for Sponsors to expose their brand to the public.  Therefore, the rights and privileges granted by SASCI to Sponsors will be commensurate with the proportion of their contribution relative to the costs of, and exposure provided by, the event.  Initial sponsorship levels are outlined below; these may be revised from time to time as considered appropriate by the Board of Directors.

 Gold Sponsor

A Gold-level Sponsor makes a contribution equivalent to 100% or more of budgeted event costs.  A Gold-level Sponsor is entitled to:

  • the inclusion of their logo (or other equivalent identification, if no logo is available) in all event advertisements and notices;
  • the inclusion of their logo (or equivalent) on a banner at the entry to the event and behind the main presentation stage, if one is included in the event;
  • a mention of their sponsorship in both the introductory and concluding remarks of the event; and
  • a mention of their sponsorship in any publications or reports issued by SASCI related to the event.

Silver Sponsor

A Silver-level Sponsor makes a contribution equivalent to 50% or more, up to 99%, of budgeted event costs.  A Silver-level Sponsor is entitled to:

  • the inclusion of their logo (or equivalent) on a banner at the entry to the event;
  • a mention of their sponsorship in either the introductory or concluding remarks of the event; and
  • a mention of their sponsorship in any publications or reports issued by SASCI related to the event.

Bronze Sponsor

A Bronze-level Sponsor makes a contribution equivalent to less than 50% but greater than 10% of budgeted event costs or as otherwise agreed to by SASCI.  A Bronze-level Sponsor is entitled to:

  • the inclusion of their logo (or equivalent) on a banner at the entry to the event; and
  • a mention of their sponsorship in either the introductory or concluding remarks of the event.

In soliciting and accepting sponsorships, SASCI will consider any potential conflict of interest that may arise.

For greater clarity, membership fees do not constitute sponsorship.  However, the membership fee may be waived for a Sponsor or deducted from a Sponsor’s contribution.
